Seeing nature
Media: 32 pairs of painted eyes, gouache on plywood put up on trees. The work was placed along a pathway outside Gallery Mors Mössa, Göteborg, 2011.

The work poses questions of our fundamental view upon nature. The title Seeing nature allude upon the expression What is not visible doesn’t exist and in extension What doesn’t see doesn’t exist. The climate change and other environmental disasters are often abstract in our nearby area. It is hard for us as humans to take a proper responsibility for example letting out carbon dioxide, when it is not visible in the air. We need to see the connection between action and result to understand it. To change our
way of acting in nature it seems as if we need to be reminded daily in our local surroundings about our
interrelation with the ecosystem.
