Seeing nature
Media: 15 signs with printed text on plywood, iron poles. 15 pairs of painted eyes, gouache on plywood put up on pine trees outside of Galerie Oehl-Früh, Hamburg, 2011.

Outside of Galerie Oehl-Früh is a parking lot surrounded by different species of pine trees. The artwork consists of signs with quotes from books, magazines and scientific reports that talk about climate change and environmental problems. Like in a botanical garden every pine tree has its own
sign, but here the trees are looking back at the viewer in a personal way. The eyes make the messages on the signs dubious; who is speaking, are the texts on the signs the opinions of the trees, do the trees have something to teach us?
