Untitled

Year: 2007. Media: Wood, gouache, laquer, iron. Size: 45 cm. Permanent installation at Baer Art Center, Iceland.

Painted wooden silhouette of a bird mounted at the gatepole in to grounds of the Baer Art Center in Iceland. The work preserves/creates a memory of a wading bird that used to sit on the pole but always flew away before it was possible to come close enough to see it properly. The bird that was nesting in the area, was with its high voice and agressive diving towards bypassers, very noticable in the place and a contrast to the vastness of the landscape. The work also functions as a "warning for the dog" sign and reminds that the ground belongs to thousands of mating birds.
